Russia-Ukraine War and Spotify: The biggest discussion topic all around the world is the war between Russia and Ukraine. It’s been a month since the war between these two nations started. Many popular companies stop their service to Russia. For example Instagram, Netflix, and now Spotify. In this blog post, you will read about the announcement by Spotify and its services in Russia.

On 7th April 2022, Spotify made an announcement regarding its services in Russia. They announced that they will halt (or stop until the war ends) their services in Russia. The implementation of this announcement is 11th April or you can say the time of writing this article. 

Furthermore, Spotify is not the only brand or company that halt its services in Russia but many others too. Most of the major companies or brands either halt their service or stop the sale of their products. Names of a few are:

Spotify and Operations in Russia

Spotify is a Swedish Media Company that is one of few companies that is continuing their service in Russia after the Russia-Ukraine War. But when they did not get the end of this war then they decided to stop their services. 

On Thursday, Spotify sent an email to all Russian users of Spotify and told them about the service issue. Well, Russian citizens didn’t have anything to do with this war but their leaders. But this is the only way to stop this war or our peaceful world is going to face a major crisis in the future.

While in the starting days of the war when every company was stopping their services in  Russia Spotify made a statement. This statement is about the reason why they are the only ones continuing their services in Russia-Ukraine War. 

They state that ”Spotify has continued to believe that it’s critically important to try to keep our service operational in Russia to provide trusted, independent news and information from the region. We think it’s critically important to try to keep our service operational in Russia to allow for the global flow of information”
